Virginia Marquette Ferron, 80, entered into rest on Saturday, August 27, 2016. She passed away in her sleep. She was born at home, December 19, 1935 on Zinfandel Lane in St. Helena’s wine country on a large dairy ranch. Most of her life she was a resident of Yuba City, but had moved to the South in June 1961 where she lived in SC and GA. In 1978, she returned to Yuba City where she was a school crossing guard for more than 12 years. Later she would teach pre-school before retreating to church service and volunteerism in the community. Virgina was a graduate of Marysville High School and Yuba City Community College. She was a former Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher and homemaker. Her greatest love was teaching and being surrounded by children. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Margaret Marquette, brother, Robert and son, Mark Ferron. Her brother is Dick Marquette, Sutter City. In addition to her parents, family members include her daughters, Suzanne Ferron-Bigleow, Sumter, SC; Margot Ferron, Ranch Santa Margarita, CA. She had six, grandchildren and three, great-grandchildren. A service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at 11am in the Pioneer Hall at the First United Methodist Church Marysville, 730 D St., Marysville, CA followed by a luncheon. Friends are welcome to call at the family at 949/945-7409. Virgina grew up as a child listening to her mother playing the organ at the Methodist Church as a child. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the church.
