Stephen O'Brien

December 15, 1957 - May 4, 2016

Stephen Francis O'Brien Stephen (Steve) O'Brien was born December 15, 1957 in Newton Massachusetts to Thomas and Joan O'Brien. On Wednesday morning May 4, 2016, as Stephen was surrounded by family and friends he was peacefully ushered into the arms of Jesus. He had fought the good fight and won the race. Stephen battled graciously through 4 years of cancer continuing to provide love and support to his daughter Jessica Hysmith and his son Paul Thomas O'Brien. Stephen persevered and was blessed to walk his daughter down the isle at her wedding. He also loved to watch Paul's football and basketball games at Sutter HS. Stephen adored and loved his children, Mother, family, & friends. Stephen was a talented and respected contractor and worked in our community for 35 years. He faithfully served with Craftsmen For Christ and helped to restore homes in the flood of 1997. In 2005 be lead a team of 100 volunteers to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Stephen loved to cook and serve food to everyone especially those in need. Stephen loved to take a drive and fish the mountain streams of the Yuba and Feather River. He was known best for his smile, his laugh and his homemade Salsa that would mysteriously show up on your door step. Stephen was preceded in death by his Father Thomas O'Brien. He is survived by his Mother Joan O'Brien, daughter Jessica Hysmith (Tim) son Paul Thomas O'Brien, brothers TomO'Brien (Lesa), Peter O'Brien(Cindy) Michael O'Brien, Mark O'Brien (Tracey) and sister Lynn O'Brien (Pete). Stephen had developed such a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ and was such a great example to all who knew him. He attended and served at the Bride Church. A Celebration of life will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Bride Church at 655 Colusa Hwy., Yuba City, Pastor Bob Ouzts will officiate. In lieu of flowers Steve asked that donations be made out to Craftsmen For Christ, 655 Colusa Hwy., Yuba City CA, 95991.
