John Edward Walz, 74, entered into rest March 12, 2017, to meet up with the woman of his dreams, his late wife Margaret. John was born August 20, 1942 in Elkader, Iowa. He was also pre-ceeded in death by his parents Francis and Gwendolyn Walz, along with his daughter Keri Williams and his sister Kay Walz. He is survived by his brother Bill (Marilyn) Hughes, and his children Tina Walz of New York, Teri (Steven) Olsgard of Marysville and Jim (Susie) Walz of Marysville. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He retired from the USAF, where he served in the Vietnam War. Also in the Air Force, he served in the supply chain management, reconnaissance and photography maintenance. He also retired after 20 years as a janitor with the Marysville Joint Unified School District, working at Ella School. His hobbies and interests included muscle cars, camping, traveling, Nascar and bowling. His funeral service will be held Friday March 17, at 11am, at the Word of Life Church, 1229 Buchanan St, Marysville, with Pastor Stan Reynolds officiating. Military honors to be provided by Beale USAF. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Holycross Memorial entrusted with arrangements.
