John E. K. Maskell passed away on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016. John was born on November 15th, 1954 in Sherbrook, Novia Scotia, Canada to Ralph and Josephine Maskell. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lorraine Maskell, sons Jason Maskell, Bryan Maskell, Luke Campbell and daughter-in-law Amy Campbell, grandsons Christian and Trenton Maskell, granddaughter Autumn Maskell, sister Lenna Figuly, brother-in law Ken Figuly, and nieces Tawnie and Jennifer. John is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Josephine Maskell and his brother Mark Maskell. John attended freshman year of high school in Long Island, NY and then sophomore through senior years at Willowbrook High School in Illinois. He joined the Air Force immediately after high school and served 4 years as a Medic. After leaving the Air Force, John attended Humboldt State for Emergency Medical Technician and solar energy. He then went on to Chico State, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Nursing. John worked as an Emergency Department RN at Rideout Hospital for 12 years. He also taught the EMT program at Yuba College for 19 years and was very active in the Mental Health program at Willow Glenn. After retirement, John pursued his passion for firearms by working as a range instructor at Shooter's Paradise. John was a devout Christian who loved his church family at First Lutheran. His greatest love was his family; his wife, children and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday Dec 13, at 11:00am First Lutheran Church in Yuba City, 850 Cooper Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in John's memory to the First Lutheran Church in Yuba City. Holycross Memorial handling arrangements.
