Billy Dell Larson, passed away in Yuba City, on October 31, 2018, at the age of 96. He was born on July 16, 1922, to William A. and Nellie Larson. An only child, Bill, also known as Billy or B.D., grew up in Monmouth, a small town in Southwest Illinois. Bill went into the Army Air Corp in November of 1942, and served in New York, Connecticut, and Northern California. In July 1943, he returned to Monmouth on leave, and on his 21st birthday he married Doris Stewart, his high school sweetheart. He was discharged from Camp Beale in Marysville, California, February 1946. He held a series of jobs as a book keeper and in 1951, went to work for Frank M. Booth, a family owned plumbing, heating, and air conditioning company in Marysville. He was instrumental in the growth and success of the firm serving over three generations. He retired as their CFO in 1986. In December 1955, the Feather River levee broke flooding Yuba City, including their Orchard Street home. With 2 young children, a baby and grandparents visiting from Illinois for the holidays, they loaded up 2 cars and headed to Los Angeles. When they returned their home remained standing but with all the contents ruined. The local Red Cross helped them rebuild their home. In gratitude, Bill and Doris became lifelong Red Cross volunteers. Bill was a member of Peach Tree Country Club, Marysville Exchange Club, SMACNA, PIPE and SIRS. He was the treasurer and a Deacon at the First Christian Church of Marysville. He was a volunteer for the local Cancer Society. He enjoyed golf, music, the St. Louis Cardinals, a game of dice or poker with his buddies and supporting his kids and grandkids extracurricular activities. After retiring in July 1986, Bill and Doris enjoyed traveling, golf and visiting family. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie; and his wife of 51 years, Doris. He is survived by sons, Alan Larson of Yuba City, Eric Larson of Beaverton, OR; and daughters, Cindy Lawrence of Petaluma, and Jill Kitchen of Roseville; grandchildren, Dawn Wills, Carissa Hennessey, Erika Munch, Keegan Larson, Carley Burns, Michael Lawrence, Abbey George, Emily Kitchen, and Matthew Kitchen; and 12 great-grandchildren. We would like to thank Summerfield Care Facility and The Fountains for everything they did to make Billy comfortable during his final years. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, CA. Friends and family may attend a viewing Friday morning, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Holycross Funeral Home at 486 Bridge Street, Yuba City. A gathering is scheduled that afternoon at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the local Red Cross or Cancer Society.
