Albert Lee Runyan shared an 86-year journey as a child of the King, prayer warrior, and a faithful servant before he met Jesus face to face on October 22, 2021. Albert was born in Telephone, Texas, on May 7, 1935, and was the youngest of seven children of John and Althea Runyan. Early in his life, Al relocated to the Airport District in Modesto, CA where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. In 1953, at the age of 18, he surrendered to the ministry and began his journey that would span almost seven decades. In 1973, he accepted the call to Yuba City, where he would spend the rest of life pastoring the First Missionary Baptist Church. His personal career expands from cotton picking to ping pong champion, from the Army to banking, from teaching to principal, and lastly, his personal favorite, a substitute teacher for Sutter Union High School. Al is survived by his daughter, Amy Runyan, of Yuba City; twin sister, Alice Kincy, of Modesto; many nephews and nieces; and a church who adored him and a high school who will miss him. A funeral service will be held in the gymnasium at Sutter High School, 2665 Acacia Street in Sutter on Saturday, October 30th at 10 am. Visitation is on Friday from 4-6 pm at the Holycross Funeral Home, 486 Bridge Street, Yuba City. Interment is at Sutter Cemetery.
